If you celebrate Halloween, Happy Halloween, even if you call it something else like Harvest celebration!!! It’s not one of my favorite holidays, but it is in my favorite month! Enough of that…on to the subject at hand, Mr. Robinson.
The weeks are all running into each other and I’m loosing track of what day it is, except that Ericka will keep us straight. So since last Wednesday, we have been to four doctor appointments including one for me. Last thursday was the INR check. The rate was too low, meaning Frederick’s blood was too thick. His coumadin dose was increased. Monday he had his after chemo MRI in the morning and an INR check in the afternoon. Again the INR was too low (blood too thick). Wednesday, I had my annual checkup in the morning. All is well, cholesterol is a little high but manageable with out meds and my blood pressure which is never high was also up. I blamed it on driving in traffic to get to my appointment. They took it again before I left and it had improved.Â
Frederick saw his oncologist later today. The MRI done Monday doesn’t show much of an improvement from September, however, the MRI taken in the hospital a few weeks ago did show some shrinkage. According to the oncologist, the hospital MRI was more extensive than the one done Monday. (You figure it out!) Anyway, as we assumed, the oncologist is prescribing another round of chemo for 5 days. In addition, Frederick’s potassium was low so he’s got meds for that now, and they also checked the INR and found it to be too low (blood too thick). Fortunately, we already had an appointment for tomorrow at the anticoagulation clinic to check INR again and adjust coumadin levels.Â
As you can imagine, we’re both a little tired. I’m just realizing how tired you can get from seeing a doctor!
Good things are happening too. Frederick continues to improve his appetite and has gained 2 pounds since 10/17/07. His new food of choice is Safeway Signature Cafe Pacific Coast clam chowder.  The nausea and vomiting are lessoned significantly. He even had me up at 3am fixing him a peanut butter and banana sandwich. I wasn’t happy but I was glad he was eating.
So, on November 12th, we have a follow-up with the surgeon. On November 28th, we have a follow-up with the oncologist. We are beginning to feel like these people are family members.
Never the less, God is still in control of this situation and more than that, the whole universe. We live by faith and not by sight. Please continue your prayers. We want God to get glory and honor from this situation and we praise him through it all. Andre Crouch sings “through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God, through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word”.  We’re still in the learning position.
Love ya’ll
Diana & Frederick
